Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to embark on a five-day international tour from June 15 to 19, covering visits to Cyprus, Canada, and Croatia, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday.
The trip will begin in Cyprus, where PM Modi will be on an official visit from June 15 to 16 at the invitation of Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. An Indian prime minister will be visiting Cyprus for the first time in more than twenty years.
During his stay in Nicosia, he is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Christodoulides and also engage with key business leaders in Limassol.
The visit is seen as a step toward reinforcing ties between India and Cyprus and expanding India’s strategic outreach in the Mediterranean region and within the European Union. Cyprus recently voiced concern over the terror attack in Pahalgam and has shown interest in addressing cross-border terrorism at the EU level. The visit gains added importance with Cyprus set to assume the role of EU Council President in the first half of 2026.
Following his stop in Cyprus, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Kananaskis, Canada, from June 16 to 17 to attend the G7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. This will be Modi’s sixth time participating in the G7 discussions. During the summit, he will join world leaders to deliberate on key issues such as energy security, technological advancement, the intersection of artificial intelligence with energy, and developments in quantum technologies. Several one-on-one meetings with other global leaders are also expected to take place on the sidelines.
Concluding his journey, PM Modi will make his first-ever official visit to Croatia on June 18, at the invitation of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. There, he will engage in bilateral talks with PM Plenković and meet Croatian President Zoran Milanović. The visit underscores India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships within Europe. Notably, this leg of the tour comes after a previously planned trip to Croatia, Norway, and the Netherlands was canceled due to India’s humanitarian Operation Sindoor.
