Instagram might unveil a novel ‘Blend’ function allowing users to curate a tailored and confidential feed using shared reels. Users retain the ability to exit the blend at any given moment. This feature remains in the internal prototype phase and has not undergone external testing as of now.
Widely used social media platform Instagram is reportedly gearing up to introduce a novel ‘Blend’ functionality, enabling users to craft a tailored and exclusive feed for themselves and their friends. Notably, Instagram Reels have emerged as a favored means for users to enhance their connections with friends by sharing brief videos on shared topics.
This fresh attribute was unearthed by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi (@alext193a on X), who suggested that the confidential feed would be constructed using the reels shared between users. Additionally, a screenshot of the feature shared by Paluzzi revealed that this new feed would be confined to just two users, with both having the liberty to exit the Blend whenever desired.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share the revelation, Paluzzi stated, “Instagram is developing Blend: #Reels recommendations based on reels you’ve shared and your reels interests. Private between the two of you. You have the option to exit a Blend at any moment.”
This forthcoming feature resembles a Spotify functionality of the same name launched in 2021, enabling users to amalgamate their preferred songs into a collaborative playlist, as per TechCrunch. However, Instagram has clarified to TechCrunch that the new feature is currently in an internal prototype phase and has not commenced external testing.
The anticipated feature could potentially allow users to extend invitations to their friends to partake in the blended feed. Upon acceptance of the invitation, users will gain access to a personalized feed tailored to the shared interests of both parties involved.
