Infosys Secures $1.64 Billion Deal from Liberty Global for AI and Automation Services

India’s second-largest IT services exporter, Infosys, has successfully secured a significant contract worth $1.64 billion from multinational communication company Liberty Global. The deal spans an initial period of five years, with an option to extend up to eight years and beyond. Infosys recently announced this partnership through a statement to stock exchanges, marking its third major deal in recent times.

Under the agreement, Infosys will provide Liberty Global with AI and automation services, enabling the latter to achieve substantial annual savings of over €100 million ($109 million). This partnership entails a comprehensive transformation, with Infosys overseeing the development and operations of Liberty Global’s Horizon entertainment and connectivity platforms.

The deal also involves more than 400 employees from Liberty Global joining the Infosys team. In an innovative move, Liberty Global will license its platforms to Infosys, granting the company the ability to offer these services to new operators and markets beyond the scope of the communication giant.

To drive this transformative endeavor, Infosys will leverage its advanced AI offering, Topaz. The goal is to utilize various digital platforms and extend Liberty Global’s market presence. Mike Fries, CEO of Liberty Global, expressed optimism about the expanded collaboration, envisioning the delivery of enhanced solutions to a wider range of markets and customers.

Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys, emphasized the significance of this partnership, highlighting the joint pursuit of innovation in reshaping entertainment and connectivity experiences for global consumers. Parekh also underscored the pivotal role of Infosys’ expansive global operations in facilitating the expansion of business across diverse markets.

This noteworthy deal underscores Infosys’ strategic commitment to advancing technology solutions on a global scale, while Liberty Global stands to benefit from Infosys’ expertise in AI and automation services. As the partnership unfolds, both companies are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of entertainment and connectivity in the digital era.
