Google One introduces the Dark Web Report function. How does this feature benefit users in India?

Google is introducing the Dark Web Report capability to Google One members in India. This feature enables users to oversee their personal information’s presence on the dark web, safeguarding them against deceitful activities. It issues notifications upon detecting any personal data and offers advice on safeguarding this information.

The renowned American tech company, Google, is introducing the Dark Web Report functionality to its Indian Google One subscribers. This innovative feature empowers users to oversee their personal data’s status on the dark web, a notorious platform exploited by hackers and individuals involved in illegal actions, including the illicit trade of sensitive personal information.

As per Google‘s statement, information such as an individual’s name, birthdate, contact details, email, and other relevant data can be vulnerable to criminal misuse, including identity theft and financial fraud. The Google Dark Web Report functionality is designed to issue notifications to users if their personal data is identified on the dark web. This empowers users to take necessary actions and strengthen their awareness to protect themselves against potential fraudulent endeavors.

By enabling the dark web report feature, users establish a monitoring profile wherein they input and select the specific information they wish to track. Should any pertinent data surface on the dark web, the tool promptly notifies the affected user and offers recommendations for safeguarding the compromised information. While standard Google users can conduct a solitary dark web check for a particular email address, they won’t benefit from continuous monitoring or receive alerts for new searches.

According to the company’s information, users subscribed to Google One can utilize the Dark Web Report feature to verify the presence of their name, birth date, and a maximum of ten email addresses and telephone numbers within the dark web. Furthermore, they are provided with the choice to enable real-time dark web monitoring, ensuring they receive continuous updates regarding new discoveries, along with suggested steps and support.

The Dark Web Report feature will also identify associated data that might be exposed through hacking activities and data breaches. Google states that these findings will be cross-referenced with the confidential data saved in users’ monitoring profiles. The handling of information within a user’s monitoring profile aligns with Google‘s privacy protocols, and users retain the option to delete or deactivate tracking at their discretion.
