The use of ChatGPT has grown rapidly, with OpenAI now reporting 2.5 billion daily prompts from users around the world—a huge jump from the 1 billion daily prompts shared just six months ago.
According to a recent Axios report, over 300 million daily prompts are generated by users in the United States alone. This massive figure adds up to more than 900 billion prompts every year, highlighting ChatGPT’s rising role in everyday digital life.
Even with its rapid growth, ChatGPT is still used less often than Google, which processes about 14 billion searches every day, based on recent yearly data. Still, the AI chatbot’s momentum is hard to ignore.
Back in December 2024, OpenAI said ChatGPT had more than 300 million active users each month, with most of them coming from the US and India—its top user bases. While ChatGPT topped app charts in India for a while, it was recently overtaken by Perplexity, which gained popularity after offering free Pro access to Airtel users.
OpenAI continues to expand ChatGPT’s capabilities. The company recently introduced ChatGPT Agent, a powerful feature that can handle advanced tasks on its own. It can now:
- Use a virtual computer to run commands
- Browse the internet
- Create presentations
- Connect with external apps like Gmail, GitHub, and more
The Agent uses smart tools—including API access and browsing capabilities—to pick the best way to complete a task, making ChatGPT even more helpful for everyday work and productivity.
