Canva has introduced two powerful AI tools to make designing easier inside ChatGPT: a deep research connector and the Canva MCP server.
With the deep research connector, users can now access and work on their Canva designs directly through ChatGPT. This means you can summarize presentations, edit templates, and handle creative tasks without switching platforms.
The second tool, the Canva MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, allows AI assistants to interact with your Canva workspace in real time securely. Unlike standard APIs, this server keeps sharing useful information between ChatGPT and Canva, helping generate more relevant designs based on user chats and past work.
Thanks to these updates, users can now autofill templates, generate data-driven charts, and even upload files—right from the chat window. Canva says these tools are already popular, with usage of Canva GPT rising 375% in the past year.
Anwar Haneef, Canva’s GM of Ecosystem, said the goal is to help people “brainstorm, create, and publish faster” by bringing Canva into tools they already use. All user data is protected under Canva Shield, the company’s safety framework for AI tools.
