Apple has introduced new MacBook Air models featuring 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes, powered by its own M3 chip. The 13-inch variant starts at $1,099, $100 less than the M2 Air model, while the 15-inch model starts at $1,299. Preorders for both models are now available in the U.S., with general availability set for March 8.
Apple unveiled the M2 MacBook Air in 2022 and added the 15-inch model to its portfolio last year.
Each MacBook Air variant showcases claimed battery endurance of up to 18 hours, a 1080p webcam, and enhanced Wi-Fi 6E radios. They come equipped with two Thunderbolt ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. While they support two external displays, this feature only works when the lid is closed.
The M3 chip, released last year, comprises an 8-core CPU paired with up to a 10-core GPU. The new MacBook Air devices also come equipped with a three-mic array for enhanced voice clarity during calls.
“Our most favored and cherished Mac, the MacBook Air, attracts more customers than any other laptop. “Today, it receives improvements with the M3 chip and added functionalities,” expressed Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
You can choose from midnight, starlight, silver, and space-gray color options for both models.
Apple’s announcement of the new MacBook Air devices coincides with the European Union’s €1.84 billion (approximately $2 billion) fine imposed on Apple for violating antitrust rules in the music streaming market.
