Meta Now Permits AI Use in Job Coding Interview—Here’s What It Means for Developers

Meta is now allowing job seekers to use AI tools during their coding interviews. The tech giant is even asking its current employees to take part in mock interviews using AI to better understand how this could shape future hiring.

This move puts Meta among the first major tech companies to support the idea of AI-assisted coding for job applications. The decision shows that Meta may be preparing for a future where working with AI becomes part of everyday engineering work.

What is Vibe Coding?
“Vibe coding” is a new way of building software by using AI tools like chatbots to help write or edit code. Instead of only hiring people who already know how to code, this trend allows creative individuals—even without formal training—to quickly bring ideas to life with the help of AI.

Thanks to tools powered by large language models (LLMs), tasks that once took hours can now be done in minutes. This is making it easier for designers and entrepreneurs to test ideas, build apps, and launch new products without needing a technical background.

AI Tools in Tech Interviews: A Growing Trend
People still have different opinions about using AI in job interviews. Some companies like Amazon still ban AI tools in interviews and disqualify candidates who use them. Others, like Anthropic, have recently changed their minds and now allow limited use of AI.

Google is also testing a tool called Opal, which lets users describe the kind of app they want, and the tool builds it using natural language prompts. It’s part of Google Labs and uses different AI models to create and edit simple apps with ease.

Why This Matters
Meta’s new approach could open more doors for creative thinkers who aren’t professional coders but have great ideas. AI tools are reshaping how software is built, and companies like Meta are preparing for a future where human and machine collaboration becomes the norm.
