Just like ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini is now offering the ability to schedule tasks, either one-time or recurring.
While Google was among the early players in the AI space, it has been working to match the pace of newer competitors, such as OpenAI. Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced scheduled prompts in ChatGPT. Now, Google is following suit with a new feature called “Scheduled Actions” for its Gemini chatbot.
Announced during Google I/O, this new functionality helps users automate their daily tasks. With Scheduled Actions, Gemini can carry out activities at set times, adjust recurring prompts, and offer personalized updates—making the assistant more proactive in managing your routine.
Users can now ask Gemini to perform tasks such as sending reminders, summarizing their calendars, displaying unread emails, or sharing real-time sports updates. However, these features are only available to users with a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan or those using eligible Google Workspace business and education accounts.
It’s not yet confirmed whether Gemini, like ChatGPT, will limit users to a certain number of active scheduled tasks or allow pausing and deleting older ones when limits are reached.
Additionally, Google announced that Gemini will soon feature an updated preview of its Gemini 2.5 Pro model, which offers better performance in tasks like coding. Google is also improving how users access Gemini Live—now, instead of tapping a button, users can simply swipe from right to left on the screen to launch it.
