You Can Now Use Gemini Extensions from the Lock Screen – Here’s How to Activate It

Gemini extensions provide real-time updates from various services such as Maps, Flights, Hotels, and more.

Google has been gradually enhancing the functionality of Gemini on Android devices, and the latest update significantly improves its usability. Recently, Google announced that users can now access Gemini extensions directly from the lock screen, enabling them to utilize the AI digital assistant without needing to unlock their phones.

To summarize, Gemini extensions assist with a variety of tasks and can retrieve real-time information from multiple services. With the new lock screen access, users can request actions from Gemini without needing to use facial recognition or fingerprint authentication.

How to Activate Gemini Extensions on the Lock Screen

This new feature should be enabled by default for anyone who has previously utilized Gemini or Google Assistant from the lock screen. For those who haven’t adjusted this setting, manual activation is required:

  1. Open Gemini on your Android device and go to ‘Settings’ by tapping your profile picture in the top right corner.
  2. In the settings menu, select “Gemini on lock screen” and toggle on the option labeled “Use Gemini without unlocking.”
  3. Once activated, you can activate Gemini using the “Hey, Google” voice command or by long-pressing the power button.

Keep in mind that some extensions that access personal information, such as Calendar and Gmail, may still require you to unlock your device.
