Adobe Unveils AI Video Generation Tool Through Firefly Platform, Introduces Subscription Options
The design software leader has made its primary artificial intelligence video creation system widely available via the newly released Firefly web application. On Wednesday, February 12, the company announced the public beta launch of its Firefly video model.
Described as the market’s first “business-safe” AI video creation tool, the system can be accessed through the Generate Video (beta) feature within the Firefly web interface and Generative Extend (beta) within the professional editing software Premiere Pro.
This release expands the company’s Firefly collection of AI capabilities, which includes Firefly Image 2 for visual creation and Firefly Vector Model for text-prompted vector graphic development.
According to company statistics, users worldwide have produced over 18 billion assets using the Firefly AI systems.
“The Firefly Video Model creates intellectual property-friendly video content ready for immediate production use,” the company stated in an official announcement.
“The platform empowers content creators with tools to craft motion sequences from written prompts or static visuals, adjust viewing angles to direct scenes, create industry-standard imagery from dimensional outlines, design environmental components and, and create custom motion design components,” the statement continued.
The video generation system currently supports 1080p resolution output. The company is developing both a reduced-resolution conceptual model for rapid iteration and an ultra-high-definition 4K AI model for professional production requirements.
“Firefly training exclusively uses content that the company has authorization to utilize, including licensed materials from the company’s stock library and public domain content – never incorporating customer-created content,” the company emphasized.
Previously, users expressed concerns that the company might utilize their creative works and other information for AI model training.
This response followed the company’s terms of service update indicating it might access, view, or listen to user content “through both automated and manual processes,” while maintaining licenses “to use, “Replicate, showcase, distribute, alter, develop derivative works from, publicly present, and translate the content.”
Videos created with the Firefly Video Model will include Content Credentials verification. The company has been leading the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) initiative, which seeks to establish industry-wide standards for identifying AI-generated content to combat misinformation. Major technology companies including OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft participate in the C2PA initiative.
Additionally, the company enables users to verify AI-generated content through the Inspect feature in its Content Authenticity web application.
Starting Wednesday, the company introduced two subscription plans with tiered pricing, providing subscribers access to “new audio and video capabilities alongside image and vector generations” within the Firefly web application.
The Firefly Standard subscription provides users with over 2,000 video/audio credits monthly and up to 20 five-second 1080p video generations, priced at Rs 797.68 including 18% tax.
