Google CEO Sundar Pichai has reportedly referred to 2025 as a “crucial year” for the company.
According to CNBC, which reviewed audio from a December 18 strategy meeting, Pichai and other executives, dressed in festive holiday sweaters, outlined the company’s goals for the upcoming year.
“I believe 2025 will be pivotal,” Pichai stated.”We need to understand the urgency of this situation and speed up our efforts as a company.” The stakes are significant.”
This comment reflects the tech industry’s ongoing race to invest in AI. Although advancements have been achieved, the outcomes have been varied. Pichai acknowledged that Google needs to catch up in some areas of AI development. He highlighted the Gemini app—built on the company’s AI model—as showing “strong momentum” but admitted that there’s “work to do in 2025 to bridge the gap and secure a leadership position.”
Pichai emphasized that scaling Gemini for consumer use would be the company’s top priority next year.
