Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, is currently testing a standalone iOS app for its chatbot, Grok, which was previously limited to users of the X platform.
The app, now in beta testing in Australia and select countries, integrates real-time web and X data while offering features such as text rewriting, summarization of lengthy content, Q&A capabilities, and the ability to create images from text descriptions.
The app description states that Grok is an AI assistant designed to prioritize truthfulness, usefulness, and curiosity. It can answer questions, generate compelling visuals, and analyze uploaded images to provide deeper insights.”
xAI is working on a standalone website, Grok.com, to provide access to the chatbot through a web platform. Currently, the website shows a “coming soon” notice when users sign in with an xAI account.
Initially exclusive to X’s premium subscribers, Grok expanded access by introducing a free version in November and made it available to all users earlier this month.
The company highlights the chatbot’s advanced image-generation capabilities, which emphasize “photorealistic rendering” and impose minimal restrictions, allowing users to create visuals that may include public figures and copyrighted material.
