YouTube’s new experiment allows creators to share voice messages in the comment section

YouTube is testing a new feature to enhance fan interaction by allowing creators to post voice notes in response to comments on their videos, the company revealed on Monday.

Currently, this feature is available only to select creators in the U.S., and they can post voice comments using the iOS YouTube app on their channels. These creators can click on a new soundwave icon when replying to a comment, record their voice, and post it as a response.

Although only certain creators can post voice comments, all users will be able to listen to them.
A transcript option will also be available below the voice note for those who prefer to read the comment instead of listening to it.

YouTube hopes that this feature will help foster stronger, more meaningful connections between creators and their audiences.

This year, YouTube has been rolling out various features aimed at building community and improving fan engagement. Earlier in March, creators were given the ability to share exclusive Shorts with their subscribers, and in September, the platform introduced a space within creators’ channels similar to Discord, where subscribers could engage in discussions.
