WhatsApp has announced a new feature, allowing users to pin up to three messages in a chat for easier access. Previously, users could only pin one message at a time in conversations with contacts or groups.
Both Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp head Will Cathcart unveiled this feature on their respective WhatsApp Channels. The chat app initially introduced the ability to pin messages in one-on-one and group chats last December.
Users can pin various types of messages, including text, images, and polls. Pinned messages prove helpful for quickly accessing information, such as a friend’s address or the location of a planned outing with a group.
To pin a message, users simply need to long-press on it and select “Pin” from the menu. Additionally, they can choose the duration for the message to stay pinned—options include 24 hours, 7 days (the default choice), and 30 days. This flexibility allows users to unpin messages when they become irrelevant.
However, there’s no option to keep a message permanently pinned, meaning users must re-pin it every 30 days. Alternatively, they can “Star” a message and access it through the contact information menu.
