Since Elon Musk took over as CEO, X has seen a drop in the number of people who use it every day, says CEO Linda Yaccarino

X, formerly recognized as Twitter, has experienced an 11.6% reduction in its daily active users following Elon Musk’s assumption of control, resulting in a user base of 225 million individuals. The company’s objective is to attain profitability by the year 2024.

During an interview at Code 2023, X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, disclosed that the platform has seen an 11.6 percent decline in its daily active users since Elon Musk assumed control. User numbers have fallen from 254.5 million to 225 million, as reported by NDTV.

In an interview at Code 2023, the CEO of X revealed that the company observed a 3.7 percent decrease compared to the user figures from Musk’s tenure the previous year, translating to a loss of nearly 15 million users. Additionally, she emphasized X’s objective of achieving profitability by 2024 and noted that within the last 12 weeks, 90 percent of the top 100 advertisers have returned to the platform.

Reportedly, Yaccarino underscored that she has been in her position at X for a mere 12 weeks. She also revealed that X, formerly recognized as Twitter, has witnessed a decline in its daily active user numbers since Elon Musk assumed control.

In the prior year, Elon Musk posted a series of tweets suggesting that Twitter boasted 254.5 million daily active users in the week leading up to his acquisition.

According to The Information, X subsequently revised its count of daily active users to 245 million. During the interview, Yaccarino confirmed that X currently maintains 225 million active users, clarifying that she had mentioned a range of “200 to 250 million” daily active users earlier in the discussion.

Per a report by Mashable, Linda Yaccarino presented data indicating that X has been experiencing a decrease in its daily active users, amounting to millions, which is approximately a 3.7% decline since Elon Musk’s takeover.

The report suggests that these daily active user figures have dipped even below the numbers Musk had reported during his tenure last year. In mid-November 2022, Twitter, under Musk’s leadership, had disclosed 259.4 million daily active users. X has seen a reduction of nearly 15 million users, reflecting a decrease of approximately 5.6 percent.

She further noted that X currently enjoys the presence of 550 million monthly active users. The report does not provide clarity regarding the extent of monthly active user growth that has taken place during Mr. Musk’s stewardship.

Moreover, she confirmed that X is making strides toward attaining profitability by 2024. While speaking at the Code Conference, she remarked, “Now that I’ve deeply immersed myself in the business, and we have a clear understanding of what to expect, it appears that we are on track to turn a profit in early ’24.”
