Amazon India has launched the third iteration of its Machine Learning (ML) Summer School, an immersive educational program aimed at equipping students with essential ML skills under the guidance of Amazon scientists. This free course will span four weekends in September, offering eight modules covering crucial ML topics such as supervised learning, deep neural networks, probabilistic graphical models, dimensionality reduction, and unsupervised learning. The focus of the program is to provide students with a solid foundation in both theoretical concepts and practical applications.
The ML Summer School is open to all engineering students currently pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees at recognized institutes in India, with an expected graduation year of 2024 or 2025. Eligible candidates must undergo an online assessment to secure their participation in this program.
Rajeev Rastogi, Vice President of International Machine Learning at Amazon, expressed the program’s goal of delivering top-notch training to participating students. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics central to modern machine learning, spanning from fundamental principles to cutting-edge advancements. Amazon ML scientists, renowned experts in their respective fields, will lead the tutorial sessions.
Amazon India highlighted that the ML Summer School differs from traditional approaches that tend to focus solely on theory. Instead, it adopts an application-oriented learning approach, allowing participants to not only grasp theoretical concepts but also gain hands-on experience to better prepare them for real-world challenges.
The inaugural Amazon ML Summer School was introduced in 2021 and garnered participation from over 3,500 students. This program aims to bridge the gap between theoretical ML knowledge and practical expertise, ultimately grooming students to become industry-ready in the field of machine learning.
