Russia prohibits the utilization of Apple iPhones and iPads for professional activities due to concerns regarding site security

The Ministry of Digital Development in Russia has implemented a ban on the use of Apple iPhones and iPads for tasks related to work.

As reported by the Interfax news agency (via Reuters) on Friday, Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development, under the leadership of Minister Maksut Shadaev, has introduced a restriction on the utilization of Apple iPhones and iPads for professional tasks among its employees.

During a digital conference, Shadaev declared, “We have implemented a limitation on the usage of (Apple) mobile devices, encompassing smartphones and tablets, for accessing job-related apps and conducting work-related email exchanges.” He went on to clarify that the use of iPhones for personal needs remains permissible.

About two months after statements were issued by Russia’s principal domestic security agency, the FSB, asserting a considerable compromise of Apple devices through a U.S.-led espionage operation, the ministry put this prohibition into effect. Apple contested these accusations, and during that timeframe, the U.S. National Security Agency, which the FSB implicated, opted not to provide a response to these allegations.

In different updates, Apple is anticipated to hold its annual iPhone unveiling event on September 12, 2023. As per Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the highly anticipated launch event for the Apple iPhone 15 lineup is speculated to occur either on September 12 or Wednesday, September 13 this year. Should this information prove accurate, pre-orders for the upcoming iPhones are expected to commence on September 15, and the Apple iPhone 15 series is anticipated to be available for purchase starting from September 22.

Further validation of this timetable was provided in a recent report by 9to5Mac, which affirmed that several carrier partners have already prohibited their staff from scheduling time off on Wednesday, September 13. This directive is attributed to the anticipation of a noteworthy smartphone announcement on that particular day.

In addition to introducing the iPhone 15 series, the September presentation is expected to feature refreshed iterations of the Apple Watch, encompassing the Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 variants. Furthermore, the event is poised to disclose comprehensive information and release timelines for iOS 17 and related updates to operating systems. The global community of Apple enthusiasts is growing increasingly excited and eager as they anticipate the official revelation of the newest advancements from the prominent technology company.
