Airtel expands network coverage with reduced latency using the Wi-Fi 6 standard, allowing seamless high-speed internet access for up to 64 devices simultaneously.
Bharti Airtel introduces Xstream AirFiber, a 5G-based fixed wireless access (FWA) service in Delhi and Mumbai, marking India’s first 5G wireless Wi-Fi solution. This revolutionary offering addresses last-mile internet connectivity issues and delivers up to 100Mbps wireless speed.
Xstream AirFiber utilizes a standalone plug-and-play device, providing extended network coverage with Wi-Fi 6 standard to enable seamless high-speed internet access for up to 64 devices simultaneously. Moreover, all Xstream AirFiber hardware devices are proudly manufactured in India.
According to Airtel, the demand for home Wi-Fi has surged significantly in recent years. With the Xstream AirFiber project, the company promises to deliver Wi-Fi-like speeds, even in areas lacking physical fiber network infrastructure. While currently available in Delhi and Mumbai, Airtel has ambitious plans to expand this service nationwide in the near future.
The Airtel Xstream AirFiber is priced at Rs 799 per month, and customers can avail of a discounted six-month plan for Rs 4,435 (including a 7.5 percent discount). A refundable security deposit of Rs 2,500 is required for the hardware component. However, it remains uncertain whether the plan offers unlimited data or if there is a data cap, similar to traditional broadband plans.
Airtel has become the pioneer in launching a 5G-based fixed wireless access service. A few months ago, Jio also announced its offering named Jio AirFiber, which promises Gigabit speed internet through a 5G network. However, details regarding pricing and the official launch date for Jio AirFiber are yet to be revealed.
